Lisbeth and Alexander Overby live in Niverød in North Zealand with their 2 children, Vitus, who is 8 years old, and Solvej, who is 5 years old. Alexander is a manager at a pharmaceutical company and Lisbeth is currently a stay-at-home mother, but she holds a Master of Arts degree in Learning and Change Management.
Lisbeth and Alexander have been eternally engaged, as they call it, but now they have finally received their eternity rings and gotten married. Mostly for practical reasons, as they also say. We helped them create their wedding rings and we have no doubt why they got married; their deep love for each other was certainly unmistakable. It was great and it inspired everyone around them. Read the interview and be inspired by Lisbeth and Alexander's great love for each other, their beautiful rings and their beautiful simple winter wedding

How did Alexander propose to you?
We have been eternally engaged for quite some time. I have never been much of a classic romantic, and I quickly find a proposal awkward and embarrassing.
Fortunately, Alex knew that, so Alexander and our eldest son Vitus surprised me while I was sitting on the ottoman in the living room. Vitus gave me the box while Alex quietly asked me if we shouldn't just get married. I couldn't say no to that. That was back in October 2017. It was absolutely perfect, informal and just like us.
Why did you want to get married?
To a large extent, I actually think it was about practicalities. And a way to honor us and our relationship - we are best friends and each other's witnesses in life. In a few years, we will have been together for half of our lives.
We already had a child at that time, and another one on the way, so our life stories would always be part of each other, whether we were married or not. But everything just becomes easier when you are married: mortgages, life insurance, etc.
Where and how did you celebrate your wedding?
As we mentioned, we found out that I was pregnant less than a month after the proposal, and I had always said that I wouldn't want to be pregnant or breastfeeding when I got married. Our daughter was born in July 2018, and I breastfed her for a year and a half. A little quick calculation, and now we are in January 2020 - we know very well what happened two months later. Covid19 happened, so we skipped a wedding in 2020. Then 2021 as well. In 2022 we didn't dare to try either. However, several times during the summer of 2022 I had suggested that we should just get married at the town hall on our anniversary on December 16th, and get it "over with" - we both knew very well that at that point we couldn't be bothered to plan a huge party. In September 2022, Alex was convinced. We got an appointment at the town hall in our municipality on December 16th, 2022. 14 years after we decided to become a couple. We had invited our closest family as well as our best friends to attend the wedding, and then lunch at Restaurant Sletten - our local restaurant in Humlebæk. Afterwards, we went home to eat wedding cake, and by 7 p.m. the last guests had left, and we could throw ourselves on the sofa. We got married on the most beautiful, ice-cold, snow-covered December day, and I still get so happy and warm at the thought of it.
Why was it important for you to have a set of wedding rings?
Hmm, it's hard to answer. I think it's primarily about the beauty of tradition. That we belong together. But because we are not traditional in many ways, it was therefore also important to us that the wedding rings were not the classic ones in polished gold.
What do the rings mean to you?
Belonging and a sense of being connected. We have also both always been fascinated by the universe, its creation and the vast sky, so when we look at our rings, Saturn and Andromeda, we are not only reminded that we have each other, but also that we are part of something bigger - together.
What do you think about when you look at your ring?
Many things! I love how soft the gold feels, and how raw and sharp the rough diamond is - the two materials stand in stark contrast to each other, just as many things in life do. But most of all, it makes me happy and proud. Proud to be connected to my husband, and happy because it reminds me of everything I have!
What is it like to see your husband with a ring on?
It may sound a bit crazy, but I think it's super sexy to see him with his wedding ring - he sleeps with it on, and only takes it off when he has to fix his hair or beard, which I consider a huge declaration of love. That he has me close, day and night.
Has it changed anything in your relationship to put your relationship on paper?
Not really - nothing other than he thinks it's quite funny that he can call me his wife now. But otherwise, everything is the same as before - liver pâté life.
Do you plan to have it changed over time? Diamonds added, etc.?
I have a little dream of having the children's birthstones added at some point, but otherwise no. I think it's beautiful as it is.
Do you plan for it to be passed down?
I haven't really thought about it - or I actually intended for it to go with me from here. It is a part of me, and carries a piece of my heart within it, and I know my husband will take his with him when he is no longer here one day. On the other hand, I love the thought that my daughter can wear the jewelry that has probably meant the most to me in my whole life. One thing is certain: it will not be sold, and it will stay in the family..
Lisbeth and Alexander had their wedding rings made by us. Lisbeth's ring is a specially made Andromeda ring with a brownish rough diamond set in a setting with extra prongs to keep the diamond in place and create an organic interplay between the ring and the stone. Alexander's is a Saturn ring. They are both made of 18 kt gold.
